This is also known as “portrait” or “landscape” orientation, and is once again a matter of personal preference. A casting director is not going to pass you by because your headshot has borders or is landscape instead of portrait. You should choose whatever orientation best displays you and your physical characteristics. With that being said, portrait is more common while some people believe landscape headshots look more “cinematic.”
